Congregation Bet Mishpachah is recruiting a choir director to bring new energy and inspiration to our services. Bet Mishpachah is a congregation for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Jews and all who wish to participate in an inclusive, egalitarian, and mutually supportive community. Since its founding in 1975, our congregation has grown to over 200 members and holds services in the Dupont and Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC.

Time commitment:
Thursday evenings, 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Sundays, 8:30 am to 12:15 pm (one hour services at 9:15 and 11:15)
There is some amount of flexibility around commitments for Thursday evening choir rehearsals and Sunday morning services

JOB SUMMARY: This position provides organ and piano support for two Sunday morning worship services as well as special services such as Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Christmas Eve, etc.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The candidate must display outstanding ability as an organist and pianist in the following: experience and proficiency with hymnody and liturgy, improvisation, accompanying, ability to play various musical styles and read lead sheets, sight-reading, open score reading and willingness to be part of a team ministry. 12-15 hrs. per week
