JOB SUMMARY: This position provides organ and piano support for two Sunday morning worship services as well as special services such as Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Christmas Eve, etc.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The candidate must display outstanding ability as an organist and pianist in the following: experience and proficiency with hymnody and liturgy, improvisation, accompanying, ability to play various musical styles and read lead sheets, sight-reading, open score reading and willingness to be part of a team ministry. 12-15 hrs. per week

Essential duties and responsibilities are not limited to, but include the following:

*Accompany the Sanctuary Choir in weekday rehearsals and on Sunday mornings (Sept.-mid May)

*Accompany children and youth in rehearsals and worship (rehearsals are Sunday mornings only)

*Rehearse with and accompany soloists, instrumentalists, small ensembles, etc. for Sunday worship services

Masters or Doctorate in Organ Performance or comparable is preferred. The base salary is dependent on experience. Fairfax Presbyterian has a full service music ministry with 50 in the adult choir, and over 60 children and youth in the youth choirs as well as an experienced 5-octave adult handbell choir. Traditional music and worship is the primary style, however the candidate must be trained in other musical styles such as gospel, world music and contemporary Christian literature, which is featured in a Creative Worship experience once every two months.
