St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Rock Creek Parish is seeking a soprano section leader to begin on Sunday, September 10.
St. Paul's employs four section leaders to support the ministry of our volunteer choir.  The primary schedule includes Sundays mornings as follows: 9:30am call for 10:30am Holy Eucharist followed by post service rehearsal until 1pm.  Additional calls include an Evensong for All Saints Sunday, Christmas Eve, and Holy Week as determined by the Rector.  Compensation is $150 for Sunday mornings on a two week schedule as determined by the accounting department.   Additional compensation for Evensong, Holy Week calls, etc.
St. Paul's celebrates its history as the oldest parish in the region.  Congregational hymns are pulled from both the 1982 hymnal and Lift Every Voice and Sing (our African-American heritage hymnal).  The choir supports congregational singing of hymns and service music from a wide variety of styles.  Comfort with (and enthusiasm for) traditional, gospel, and world sacred music is desired. Solo experience in the gospel tradition would be a bonus.  Section leaders support their colleagues musically and administratively (some singers benefit from help finding what they need, etc.,)
