Grace Episcopal Church in Georgetown, Washington DC (www.gracedc.org) is a medium-sized congregation with a “one/two room school house” Sunday School that’s warm and welcoming.  The church is seeking a qualified person to teach music and singing as a component of the Sunday School curriculum.

Students range from toddlers to early teens.  The music and singing teacher will be responsible for preparing students to perform simple musical selections from time to time as a special part of Sunday morning worship.  It is hoped that this “Youth Choir”, along with parents and family members, will also sing with the church’s adult choir on designated occasions.  Simple instrumental accompaniment, using bells, tambourines, maracas and the like, may be a part of instruction and performance.

The Sunday School Music Teacher will be expected to work with students two Sundays of each month, and to be present at Grace Church for two hours on each of the two Sundays.  The teacher will participate in the regular Sunday School lesson and, as part of the lesson or separately, lead singing instruction and preparation.  The position will include two hours of preparation time, for a total of six hours per month.  Compensation will be on an hourly basis, and will reflect the candidate’s relevant training and experience.
