The Kennedy Center will present the Broadway Center Stage production of Chess, the dramatic rock opera with music by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson & lyrics by Tim Rice, in the Eisenhower Theater, February 14-18. The story is about a love triangle between a “loutish American chess star, an earnest Russian champion, and the assistant who is torn between them.”
The semi-staged concert production stars Raúl Esparza as American chess champion Freddie; Ramin Karimloo as rival Russian chess star Anatoly Sergievsky; Tony Award® winner Ruthie Ann Miles as Anatoly’s wife, Svetlana; and Tony Award® winner Karen Olivo as Florence, a Hungarian refugee who becomes the center of their emotional triangle.
