The St. Mark’s Chancel Choir (approximately 45 volunteers) seeks a tenor section leader beginning in April. In addition to being a skilled singer with healthy technique, strong musicianship, and musical sensitivity, well-qualified candidates will be friendly and easy to work with.

The Chancel Choir is comprised of people young and old, experienced and less so. The ensemble has high standards and sings a wide variety of repertoire, from Renaissance polyphony to 21st Century compositions. At least two Evensongs, an Advent Lessons & Carols service, and a mass setting with instrumentalists are sung each season. While it is not important that you are an Episcopalian (or Christian for that matter), it is expected that you will respect the traditions of the Episcopal Church.

This position is open as of mid-April and goes through the first Sunday in June. Assuming it is a good fit, you will be given the option to sing next season (early September 2018 through early June 2019). Rehearsals take place on Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Services on Sunday are at 9:00 am (8:20 call) and 11:15 am (10:30 call) with a half-hour break in-between. Pay is $60 per call with an average of three calls per week (each rehearsal or service equals one call). Annual pay is approximately $6,500. Additional opportunities for solos, weddings, and funerals will be available, as will the ability to teach voice lessons through the St. Mark's Music Studio.
