11.18.2017 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

November 11-12 at Franklin Park Performing Arts Center in Purcellville, VA and November 18 at Leesburg Junction, in Leesburg, VA
Leesburg, VA – Loudoun Lyric Opera presents The Tragedy of Madame Butterfly, an intimate chamber adaptation of the Puccini grand opera. Inspired by Peter Brooks adaptation of Bizet’s Carmen, entitled La tragédie de Carmen, the team of Gary Race and Helen Gregory re-envisioned the plot and score of Puccini’s work into that of a smaller, almost cinematic scope. Retaining most of the famous musical highpoints of the Puccini original, this impactful retelling delivers the opera with a time frame of 95 minutes. Maestro Cuong Hung Van leads the opera, presented with chamber orchestra. Gregory Scott Stuart is the Stage Director. Sung in English.
