Alto for Schola Cantorum -Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle (R.C.) 1725 Rhode Island Avenue NW Washington, DC 20036

There is currently an opening for an Alto in the Schola Cantorum of the cathedral. Schola members sing for the 11:00 am  Sunday Eucharist in one of the most rewarding acoustic settings in the area. Because of the nature of the music (Gregorian chant, renaissance polyphony, and later anthems), and the amount of repertoire each week, prospective singers must have significant adult choral experience, excellent sight-reading skills, and a pleasant, agile voice. The commitment of time and focused energy is considerable, particularly at Christmas and Holy Week. Extra singing opportunities include Archdiocesan liturgies and civic and community functions (annual Red Mass, state funerals) and concerts. Professionals sing with 7 other professionals and up to 16 auditioned, experienced volunteers. Professionals are also frequently invited to sing for weddings and funerals.

Saint John the Beloved RC Church in McLean, VA is seeking a Mezzo for the Traditional Latin Mass $80 - $120 per call (depending on the number of hours) two calls per week (September thru June) as well as additional calls for rehearsals and services during Holy Week, Christmas, etc.

Familiarization with singing Gregorian Chant using square notes helpful but not required.  Much rep (not all) is Renaissance polyphony.

The Cathedral of Saint Thomas More in Arlington, Virginia, seeks section leaders/cantors and substitutes for all voice parts. The choir is composed of professional and volunteer singers and rehearses weekly on Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and sings for 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass with a 10:15 a.m. call. Additional weekend Masses for cantors are at 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday. Pay is $115 per call with further compensation for any time over 2.5 hours. Because it is a Catholic liturgical ministry, we especially seek practicing Catholics or others interested in sacred music who will be a good fit for our choir's Catholic and communal culture.

Redeemer Bethesda is seeking section leaders (soprano and tenor) and substitutes (all parts) for our professional quartet that leads our volunteer choir of 25.

Redeemer is an Episcopal Church with music at its heart. As a Parish, we foster our community of professionals, volunteers, and music-appreciators to express our ministry of welcome and elevate our worship through the Anglican choral tradition. The repertoire is appropriately chosen and joyously executed, and whether a hymn or an orchestral mass setting, our music enriches the shared experience of life and the divine. Our composer-led Ensemble-in-Residence, Kassia Music is a first-class group that performs with the choir on special occasions, at our flagship Saturday evening concerts, and co-curates our Friday night series (with open mic). We welcome other local and regional professionals for our Saturday night series, who this year include The Whiffenpoofs, Sam Scheff, and the Eric Byrd Trio.

Our quartet of section leaders works collaboratively with our talented and enthusiastic volunteers. Tuning and ensemble are paramount, but our paradigm is the healthy focus of vowels through healthy onset to energize stylistic performance.
