First Baptist Church of the City of Washington, DC, seeks a Tenor Section Leader for the 2026-2027 program year. 12 professional singers, alongside four choral scholars, support the Chancel Choir,  dedicated to musical excellence in worship. Located a short walk from Dupont and Logan Circles, FBC is a welcoming community that values music of diverse, sacred styles. Benefits of the position include:

DESCRIPTION
Seeking a tenor section leader for a small church choir. The section leader will also be part of a smaller ensemble of more skilled singers who prepare more difficult repertoire throughout the season. Some solo opportunities. This position is not only professional but also pastoral. Respect for, and support of, less able volunteer choir members is required.

REQUIREMENTS
Good sight-reading skills; pleasant voice; patience

COMMITMENT
Rehearsals – Wednesday evenings 7pm-8:30pm (beginning September 2); Mass – Sunday mornings 11am, call 10:30am (beginning September 13). The season runs through the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, in 2027 May 30. There is a break between the Christmas season and Ash Wednesday, which varies from year to year, in 2027 this is four weeks. Some evening Masses will be possible. Christmas night and day, Ash Wednesday evening, Palm Sunday, Paschal Triduum, and Easter Sunday are required.

Tenor Section Leader - Church of the Redeemer – Bethesda MD

The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer is hiring a Tenor section leader starting September, 2026. The successful candidate will join Redeemer’s 25-member adult choir for a minimum of 2 calls per week: Thursday evening rehearsals (7:30pm-9pm) and our Sunday morning, 10:30am Eucharist. There are many more service opportunities throughout the year, especially during Advent and Holy Week. Additionally, special choral concerts, weddings and funerals will be further occasions for engagement.
The rate of pay is $110 per call. Special concerts, services and other choral events are paid at a rate of $135 per call. Base season earnings are around $9,550.00, but can be much higher depending on additional services. The choir season runs from the second Sunday in September through the second Sunday in June; usually Trinity Sunday depending on the church calendar.
Redeemer’s choral repertoire is extensively broad and fulfilling, ranging from Renaissance polyphony to present day. At our core, however, is our strong Anglican tradition of 19th/20th century masterworks. Therefore, candidates interested in this position should ideally be experienced in the repertoire and traditions of the Anglican Church. Exceptional sight-reading skills are a must, as well as the ability to lead and support your section.

Tenor Section Leader/Soloist - St. Margaret's Episcopal - Dupont Circle, NW DC

The Choir of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church seeks a tenor section leader/soloist. From the Sunday following Labor Day through Trinity Sunday, the choir sings for the weekly 10:30 a.m. Eucharist, rehearsing from 9:00 a.m.—10:15 a.m. Additional calls include Christmas Eve, Holy Week services, and post-service rehearsals on Sundays before Christmas and Holy Week. Attendance at Holy Week and Christmas services and rehearsals prior to both is mandatory. The fee is $133.90 per call. Qualified candidates will have experience as both a choral singer and vocal soloist (oratorio, Gospel, contemporary), sight read extremely well, learn their notes outside of rehearsal, receive direction well, be sympathetic to the ethos of our worshiping community, and have a cheerful disposition.
