Christ Church, Georgetown, Washington, DC, an historic parish with a long tradition of excellence in liturgical music, seeks a tenor to join its 13-voice, professional choir. The successful candidate will begin his work in the parish during Summer 2024.
The Choir of Christ Church provides musical leadership at the 11:15 a.m. service — Holy Eucharist or Morning Prayer — each Sunday and at a number of special choral liturgies throughout the year. These include three services of Lessons and Carols (Advent, Christmas, and Epiphanytide), and a Solemn Requiem Mass for All Souls' Day. The ensemble also sings Choral Evensong on the first, third, and fifth Sundays of the month, October through May, at 5:00 p.m.

The rate of pay is $140 per call with an earning potential of approximately $13,500 per year. This number does NOT include frequent weddings and funerals, which pay at a rate of $250 per call. The successful candidate may also be considered for participation in the vocal quartet that sings at the 9:00 a.m. service each Sunday (an additional call). A reasonable amount of leave for concertizing and other professional musical endeavors is negotiable. Please note that there are no mid-week rehearsals.

The successful candidate must have significant choral experience, preferably in the Anglican tradition. He must possess exceptional sight-reading skills, the ability to make music at a high level with very little rehearsal time, and the desire to do so in a collegial manner.
