St. John's, Lafayette Square, an historic Episcopal parish across from the White House, seeks a skilled tenor to join the professional twelve-voice St. John’s Choir. Members of the St. John’s Choir also serve on a rotating basis as section leaders within the volunteer Parish Choir.
The successful candidate will have the ability to blend in a small ensemble and to make music at high level with minimal rehearsal time. They should be willing to provide helpful leadership of volunteer singers when working with the Parish Choir.
The weekly schedule includes:
Sundays 9 am service with the Parish Choir (two out of every three weeks).
11 am service with the St. John’s Choir (each week)
Thursdays Evening rehearsal with the Parish Choir (one out of every three weeks)
Additional calls include Choral Evensong on the third Wednesday of each month, a Requiem mass for All Souls’ Day, and several additional services during Christmastide and Holy Week.
Regular rates are $153.71 for calls with the St. John's Choir and $116.71 for calls with the Parish Choir for a cumulative annual earning potential of up to $15,000. An annual cost of living adjustment is typically given each January. Weddings and funerals are paid separately at a rate of $200 per call.
